Veggie Superheroes - Exploring Vegetables to Infinity and Beyond! (ages 2-5 years)

Kids will throw on their capes and become Veggie Superheroes in this class! This four-class series will help your little ones explore, taste, touch and smell different vegetables and involve them in the preparation of different snacks and dishes featuring a variety of veggies. These classes will teach basic kitchen skills and include some fun food-related crafts. After each class, participants will earn a Veggie Superhero badge to honor and celebrate their bravery in the kitchen and willingness to try new things! This is a 4 week series.

Creative Cooking with Vegetables (Caregiver + Child Class)

Vegetables don’t have to be boring or an afterthought. This cooking class will feature delicious recipes using seasonal vegetables that will make the whole family want to “eat their vegetables.” Each class will introduce different cooking techniques and feature unique ways to incorporate vegetables in meals and snacks. All recipes will focus on easy, weekday meal options that the whole family can prepare together.

This class is intended for a parent/caregiver + child together. We designed the class for children ages 6-11 years, but if you're interested in coming with an older child, please email us at hello@karunaforyou.com and we can try to accommodate! We just want to ensure the skill level is appropriate for all attendees (and older kids aren't bored!). This is a 4 week series.

Family meals can be the key to improving your family’s health - and they don’t have to be complicated or overly time consuming. In this monthly series of cooking workshops, you will learn strategies for planning and budgeting for family meals, techniques to make cooking a fun and easy part of your weekly routine, and tips for feeding your kids and helping them to enjoy a variety of foods and flavors. Each session will feature planning tools that you can take home and make your own as well as hands-on experience in the kitchen making recipes that can be adapted to your family’s needs.

Cooking with Kids 101: Breakfast

Parent and kid class, with emphasis on how to cook with your kid, geared toward younger kids with a parent. Recipes are whole-food based, plant-forward and nut-free. Our breakfast class will include recipes for:

  • Whole-grain pancakes

  • Vegetable omelets

  • Simple fruit compote (e.g., blueberry, raspberry) for pancakes

 Skills for kids:

  • Safety and hygiene

  • Measuring

  • Mixing

 Skills for parents:

  • Learning age appropriate ways your young child can help in the kitchen

  • Timing of leavening

  • Stovetop dos and don’ts for best results

  • Cooking with fresh ingredients

Intended for children ages 5-12 years + a caregiver. Adult participation required.

Snack Attack! Fun Snacks for the Whole Family

This class will inspire kids to get in the kitchen and whip up some fun snacks that the whole family will love. All participants will learn about making healthy AND tasty snacks and prepare two fun snack recipes in our kitchen. Each recipe will include a variety of foods that give kids the nutrients they need to grow, stay healthy and feel their best! Each participant will also create an original snack idea to inspire future snack creations in your kitchen.
