Feeding Your Family: Planning, Cooking, and Enjoying Family Meals

Family meals can be the key to improving your family’s health - and they don’t have to be complicated or overly time consuming. In this monthly series of cooking workshops, you will learn strategies for planning and budgeting for family meals, techniques to make cooking a fun and easy part of your weekly routine, and tips for feeding your kids and helping them to enjoy a variety of foods and flavors. Each session will feature planning tools that you can take home and make your own as well as hands-on experience in the kitchen making recipes that can be adapted to your family’s needs.

NEXT CLASS - Wednesday, August 21st! // What if there was a tool that could help you feed even the pickiest members of your family without feeling like a short order cook? There is, and it's called the Division of Responsibility. Learn how it can help bring your whole family to the table for more joyful meals at our next Feeding Your Family workshop. We'll also be sharing flexible recipes that can be adapted to your family's needs including family friendly rice bowls with veggies (yes, veggies)!

Snack Attack! Fun Snacks for the Whole Family

This class will inspire kids to get in the kitchen and whip up some fun snacks that the whole family will love. All participants will learn about making healthy AND tasty snacks and prepare two fun snack recipes in our kitchen. Each recipe will include a variety of foods that give kids the nutrients they need to grow, stay healthy and feel their best! Each participant will also create an original snack idea to inspire future snack creations in your kitchen. Adult participation is not required.

Cooking with Kids: Lunch Box Makeover (Child + Caregiver Class)

Summer flew by, and it is already time to think about returning to school and packing lunches. Are you already dreading the daily ham and cheese sandwich routine? Time to get creative and moved beyond boring brown bag lunches. Learn some new (healthy) lunch ideas while bonding with your child, learning about nutrition and getting hands-on with our instructor Beth in the kitchen.

The theme of this class will be Bento Boxes! Bento boxes are a Japanese lunch concept that has been adopted in America in recent years. It’s meant to be a shelf-stable, well-rounded meal. We’ll try four varieties of Bento Boxes and then learn how to assemble your own for your family’s taste buds. Tired of your apples always turning brown? You'll also learn tips for keeping foods fresh so you can do more prep ahead and less scrambling in the morning!


  • Traditional (ish) Bento Box with Cold Soba Noodle Salad and Tamagoyaki (cooked in class)

  • Nacho Bento Box

  • Middle Eastern Bento Box

  • New England Bento Box

Beth is a meat-loving culinary professional who learned to make plant-based meals out of self defense when her 7-year-old son declared he’d never eat another animal. Two years later, Beth has overcome her aversion to tofu and tempeh by experimenting with recipes and methods to make vegetarian and vegan meals palatable to both carnivores and kids.

Registration is for 1 adult and 1 child. And extra child is $20.

**Advance registration is required. Registration closes 48 hours prior to the start of class. A minimum of 4 pairs is required to hold class.**
